You can deliver an automatic FTP configuration file (.FTPC file) to your customers if they are using EasyWebEditor / 1SITE / HyperPublish. The typical thing is to deliver to the customer an email with a file in attach + instructions.
They save this file, double click, and the FTP is configured (with the publishing feature the customer can immediately publish the website).
You may generate the file manually or automatically, with a script on your server (or with a simple modifications to your existing "Welcome Email" script...). It's just a text file.
The .ftpc file is a text file like this (saved as somenicename.ftpc):
That's all. Very simple. You can create this file manually and send it out by email, as attach.
Or, with a script on the server (we may send you a Perl script) you can generate an email like this:
Welcome to VisionHost!
Please store these parameters in a safe place.
We do strongly suggest to PRINT this email.
| New Account Info |
| Server FTP: yourname.visionhost.info
| User Identifier: yourname
| Password: testpass
| Initial remote directory: /www
| WWW path: http://www.yourname.com/
| Domain name: yourname.visionhost.info
| Quota: 100 Meg
| Contact Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
To configure EasyWebEditor (or 1SITE, HyperPublish) please close the program (if opened), click the file in attach and save it on the desktop, then double click its icon.
You will see a message such as [ *FTP configuration "VH-yourname" added* ].
If you see a different message, click Cancel/Exit, then run EasyWebEditor (1Site, HyperPublish) and use the manual configuration:
Publish >Internet-FTP >Setup
It's simple, in this dialog just enter the parameters listed above.
When this setup is done (either automatically or manually), you can publish with:
Publish >Internet-FTP >Publish on the Internet
(just wait that it connects, then press the big PUBLISH button on the bottom right)
For common problems / user mistakes and the solutions see:
(top problem: firewall or antivirus misconfigured that blocks the publishing)
In future, you may want to use a domain such as:
instead of your current one that is:
This is simple. Please just see http://www.visionhost.info/domain/ in case.
